March 9, 2018 – Stanwood, Wash. – Process Solutions recently launched its Robotic Controls Division focused on designing and manufacturing control systems for industrial and commercial robotic work cells. The new division is being formed in response to customer and supplier demand, along with the region’s lack of service providers for robot-based automation.

“Robot automation is becoming prevalent not only in the regions traditional industrial sectors but also in commercial sectors such as retail and medical as well” explained Process Solutions Vice President of Sales, Steve Pelton. “Process Solution is positioned with the specific tooling, skills, and capacity to naturally step in and fill the region’s gap in comprehensive system integration providers.”

Most robotic applications require the same control systems with electrical control panels that Process Solutions already traditionally provides for numerous other industries, including aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage. These existing services provide the framework for Process Solutions to seamlessly expand into the field of robot-based automation.

To further accelerate the launch and ultimate growth of the Robotic Controls Division, Process Solutions is hiring experienced robotics engineers, as well as partnering with robot automation companies based in the Northwest Region, such as Olympus Controls in Tualatin, Oregon.

Process Solutions’ services and offerings will include turn-key robot work cells and the corresponding control systems to operate them. Process Solutions will also work with partner companies to provide all mechanical designs and layouts. In some cases, systems will be assembled at Process Solutions’ Stanwood headquarters, while larger systems will be fabricated off-site at partner facilities.

Along with designing and building the overall control systems, Process Solutions will provide other services such as robot reach analysis to determine that each robot has the necessary mobility to reach their intended targets.

End-effector design, PLC and HMI programming, vision system programming, and control panels utilizing standard industrial control technologies will also be offered. The systems can also feature SCADA packages allowing for IIoT integration, data analytics, and interfacing with connected enterprise software systems.
